屠杰，男，1961年5月出生于艺术世家，家学渊源，自幼受到良好的艺术熏陶，承载了祖上的紫檀基因，得益于父辈的技艺传授，成为屠氏紫檀雕刻绝活的一代传人。他毕业于同济大学，研究生学历，曾留学英、美和北欧，获硕士学位。高级工艺美术师、上海市工艺美术大师、“二十一世纪杰出专家”，入选中组部“高级专家人才库”、“世界杰出华人艺术家”，享受国务院政府特殊津贴。

1989年，屠杰回国创建中国第一家明清雕刻艺术研究所，并发展为中国紫檀文化研究院；1998年，担任中科院“九五”重大科研项目《中国传统工艺全集·雕塑》编委和特邀撰稿人，取得的科研成果填补了中国传统工艺科技史多项空白；起草国家标准《红木》CB/T18107-2000获《中国国家标准创新贡献一等奖》；应台湾辅仁大学邀请，作为访问学者赴台讲学，进行学术交流；撰写论文70余篇，专著10余部，累计100余万字。

屠杰长年来用心观察，用情创作，潜心创作了100余件紫檀雕塑艺术精品力作，参加国内外高级别的国际艺术博览会获金、银奖等奖项百余项，先后在北美、东南亚、日本以及台深沪等地举办个展，赢得普遍赞誉。他亲自创作的黄檀雕塑《世纪观音》入座泰国诗丽吉皇后艺术中心，被泰国国王亲授“泰中文化交流特殊贡献勋章”和奖牌，紫檀雕塑《万世师表》被联合国教科文组织永久收藏，被授予“世界文化和平奖”最高荣誉；《济困之公》、《道德天尊》分别被供奉在上海玉佛禅寺和浦东太清宫；《和谐世界》在民博会上展出，《世纪龙舟》和《济公百态》代表上海非遗在世博会上海活动周展出，均获业内人士和专家学者的广泛好评；主办欧中艺术家《跨越国界的艺术》艺术展，参展的紫檀雕塑艺术精品受到了20多个欧盟国家以及美、俄驻沪总领事等高度评价；作品被各展出国国家级博物馆收藏，被国家领导人作为国礼赠予外国政要，受到外交部，教育部的专函表扬；创建的中国现代国之宝艺术馆作为“上海世博会城市特色文化展示馆”，在世博期间对外开放，精彩展示中国紫檀雕塑艺术，弘扬中华文化。

屠杰被中共上海市委、市政府授予“上海市优秀回国留学人才”、“侨界十杰”，被上海市委组织部、市人事局授予“上海市领军人才”，被中国民族艺术家协会授予“2007-2008年度中国民族艺术创新人物”和“中国民族艺术杰出人物”，获上海市经信委审定的原创设计（大师）工作室，成为上海市非遗项目代表性传承人，所代表的“紫檀雕刻”已成为国家级非遗名录项目。2012年被国家文化部定为国家级非遗项目代表性传承人。

屠杰现任全国政协委员、中国民主促进会中央委员、美国东方文化艺术研究中心特约研究员、中国侨联常委、上海市侨联副主席、上海市海外交流协会副会长、中国民族艺术家协会副会长、中国工艺美术协会常务理事、中国传统工艺研究会副会长兼秘书长、上海工艺美术行业协会副会长、上海工艺美术学会副会长、联合国国际交流合作与协调委员会亚太地区艺术委员会秘书长。

Drafted national standard mahogany CB/ t18107-2000 won the first prize of China national standard innovation contribution; At the invitation of fu ren university of Taiwan, as a visiting scholar to teach in Taiwan, academic exchange; He wrote more than 70 papers and 10 monographs, with a total of over 1 million words.

Tu jie has been observing attentively for years, creating with emotion, creating more than 100 pieces of exquisite red sandalwood sculpture works with great concentration. He has participated in more than 100 awards such as gold and silver awards at high-level international art fairs at home and abroad, and held individual exhibitions successively in North America, southeast Asia, Japan and Taiwan, shenzhen and Shanghai, winning universal praise. His self-creation of rosewood sculpture "the goddess of mercy" was seated in the art center of queen sirikit of Thailand. He was personally awarded by the king of Thailand "medal of special contribution for cultural exchange between Thailand and China" and MEDALS. The Lord of the poor and the god of morality are respectively enshrined in Shanghai yufo zen temple and pudong taiqing palace. "Harmonious world" is exhibited at the people's fair, "century dragon boat" and "jigong hundred forms" represent the intangible cultural heritage of Shanghai in the Shanghai activity week of the expo, which has been widely praised by the industry insiders and experts.The exhibition of art across borders by European and Chinese artists was held, and the works of rosewood sculpture exhibited were highly appraised by more than 20 European Union countries and consul-general of the United States and Russia in Shanghai. The works are collected by national museums in each country, presented to foreign dignitaries as state gifts by state leaders, and praised by special letters from the ministry of foreign affairs and the ministry of education. The modern national treasure art museum of China, established as "Shanghai expo city characteristic cultural exhibition hall", opened to the public during the expo period, showcasing Chinese red sandalwood sculpture art and carrying forward Chinese culture.

TuJie was the CPC Shanghai municipal committee, municipal government awarded the "Shanghai outstanding returned student talent", "nation outstanding", by the Shanghai municipal party committee organization department, municipal personnel bureau awarded "talents in Shanghai", by the Chinese national artists association awarded the "2007-2008 China national art innovation" and "China national art elite", Shanghai committee approved the original design of the letter (master) studio, become Shanghai representative inheritance of intangible heritage, represented by the "red sandalwood carvings" has become a national heritage project. In 2012, it was designated as the representative inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage project by the ministry of culture.
